Young Mozarts Orchestra
G, D and C Major Scales 1 or 2 Octaves
Any Prepared solo piece from Suzuki or Method Book
Sight Reading
String Orchestra
- In order to audition into Strings Orchestra, the student must be able to play:
- Violin/Viola/Cello: 2 octave scales and arpeggios
- G Major, A Major, Bb Major, C Major, D Major, one octave F Major
- One piece from the middle of Suzuki Book 2 (Witches Dance or more advanced) or equivalent
- Bass: 1 octave scales and arpeggios
- G Major, A Major, Bb Major, C Major, D Major, F Major
- One piece from Suzuki Book 2 (#3 or more advanced) or equivalent
- All instrument will be asked to sight read
- Excerpts can be found HERE. Students will prepare as posted:
- Violin: Measures 1-9, 47-67, 140-end
- Viola: Measures 9-41, 104-128
- Cello: Measures 73-129
- Bass: As much as possible
- Violin/Viola/Cello: 2 octave scales and arpeggios
Concert Orchestra
- In order to audition into Concert Orchestra, the student must be able to play all of the following:
- Scales and arpeggios
- Violin
- 3 octaves: G Major, A Major
- 2 octaves: Bb Major, C Major, F Major, A minor, G minor, E minor
- Viola
- 3 octaves: C Major
- 2 octaves: Bb Major, D Major, F Major, A minor, G minor, E minor
- Cello
- 3 octaves: C Major
- 2 octaves: Bb Major, D Major, F Major, A minor, G minor, E minor
- Bass
- 1 octave: G Major, A Major, Bb Major, C Major, D Major, F Major A minor, G minor
- Violin
- STUDENTS MUST PREPARE THE FOLLOWING EXCERPTS FOUND HERE
- Violin players should pick the most suitable part for their skill set
- Auditions are used to determine ensemble placement. Seating for Concert Orchestra will take place at the start of the 23-24 season
