EXCITING CHANGES COMING SOON FOR PREP! The GMYS Preparatory Program is the foundation of our music education. For this reason, we will establish its rebranding as the Miami Youth-Action Music Initiative (MYami). The major objectives and activities include the creation of a specific curriculum for our preparatory program in coordination with our teaching artists that encompasses more individualized student attention and instrument specific instruction. Furthermore, in keeping with our mission to serve as a “Total Community Project” the program will be expanded to include peer guided learning, community service components and student leadership opportunities. Open to our youngest members with little or no previous musical experience, the program strives to introduce our young musicians to the joys of playing a musical instrument, among a small group of peers. Our classes will focus on instrumental playing technique, general music and foundational development.
Students must be at least 5 years old to participate. Instruments available (limited supply). Some programs have registration and tuition fees. Scholarships are available. Our MYami classes are listed below.
